Has it been that long? Well, time just won't hold still...if only....

I may not be blogging but I'm still here..sorting out the many, many changes going on in my personal life. But before I go on with my life behind the lens, I want to share with you the newest addition to my product offerings. Expressions Collection - Different Sides of Genevieve

Ok, here's I view my session with bigs girls and guys (mom, dad, woman, man...) I love to talk...to carry on a converation...I want that whoever is in front of me feels comfortable in front of my camera...because it is important to me that I bring out who they are. A photograph for me is not just a physical representation of a person...but rather a revelation of who that person is...what she looks like at the moment, what is she going through, her struggles, the things that makes her happy and how she expresses herself...its a peak into the different sides of a person....

In this photo session, we just talked and we had a great time....It took me a couple of minutes to do this so that she had no time to be conscious...and that I captured her in her own special and true way. For me, it was magical...

I have ordered several canvases for my clients and I have a few myself -- and yet everytime I see a finished product, I am always at awe at how much more beautiful photographs on stretched gallery canvases are... I always feel like I want to touch them and they look so real that I want to start talking to them --ya I'm weird --haha---! Anyway, I am so excited and can't wait to hear back from Sonia once this arrives at her door :)

Ester Aure - A mother and a strong woman

I remembered it was a very cold afternoon in SF that day we took the photos. But everybody worked hard and we got some nice shots --- I bet you can't tell they were cold? Wonderful family and Ester -- I just love talking to her.

She was one of those women who when you talk to, it would be dumb not to pick her brains out....her view of life and how things need to get done is nothing short of inspirational. She is very devoted to her community and to her family and I really admire that about her.

Great time with this family...they are so game, so cool and I just had a wonderful time with them! I have to say I was greeted by their big German Shepard, and I thought, oh sheezz..how am I going to do this? But let me tell you, I have never been so close to a german shepard before and by the time I left, I had thoughts of getting one for myself and my kids. The HU are an amazing family...As you can see from their photos, they are spontaneous, loving and beautiful...I hope they like their photos and their time making them :)

Pastor Fr. Mike Healy, St. Bartholomew Church in San Mateo

The beauty of taking Father Mike's photograph was like visiting one of God's best friends and having a one on one time with him. I went to see Pastor Fr. Michael Healy at St. Bartholomew Church in San Mateo. We walked inside the big beautiful church with its stained glass murals surrounding the walls of St. Bartholomew and took some pictures. From there, we walked to the side garden where we began our conversation. By the time we wrapped up our photo session, I had already shared a big part of my life. No, I don't spill my life's 411 every time I do a shoot...he was just one of those very few gifted people, who when you talk to, gives you 100% of his undivided attention and listens without fear of being judged. With his steady and caring tone, he bids me adieu with words of wisdom and comfort. I leave his presence with a secure feeling that it will all work out and everything will be fine...and most importantly, that I just had a one on one time with somebody really special...oh what an unforgettable experience!

I just love this picture...how awesome is it to get three generations in one image...in their own environment, watching them interact with so much love. Grandma, son and his two boys --laughing and sharing a moment together...

FWN's The Vagina Monologues on Stage last March 31st

The culmination of months of rehearsals, cast members spending their Sundays reading monologues at the AP Gianini Auditorium in San Francisco, evenings cleared for individual coaching, selling tickets, soliciting ads for the VDiaries, attending a press conference, a courtwatch, and a workshop -- finally happened at the Herbst Theater last March 31, 2008 when Marily Mondejar gave her welcome speech at the opening of The Vagina Monologues Show, the first of 4 shows for FWN (Filipina Women's Network) this year.

I have done the monologues, both in the New York production in 2006 and in San Francisco last year. And yet last April 2nd, as I sat there in the audience for the first time, the monologues resonated in the theater walls and as if I was hearing it for the first time. The impact was strong and the message was clear: Stop the Violence Against Women and Girls.

I applaud the entire cast and crew of this year's production. You guys did a wonderful job! I am so proud of you!!!

Also, I just wanted to do a shout out to Florante Aguilar and Charmaine Clamor for the wonderful music and singing on the show...just fantastic.

UFB which stands for Unfreakin Believable experience (an acronym used by Kevin Kubota, speaker and highly acclaimed photographer) is how I describe my recent trip to Las Vegas to attend the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Professionals) convention!

No, there was no partying involve (I wish!) but instead, it was intense back to back days of just insightful seminars that started from 8:30am and ended at 10:30pm daily. It was like I came to Vegas to get power charged - and I sure did. I cannot wait to implement some fabulous ideas in my photo shoots.

My sister who is also a photographer from Toronto, Canada joined me and it was so nice to just spend some time with her as well. We also met a group of photographers and one of them had a wedding gown with him -- one of those just in case shoots...and my sister was gracious enough to wear the gown for us so we can do a little photo shoot....Photos below were taken at the Mile Shop in Vegas from 11:00 om till 3am...yes we are crazy but we love it.

Watch and Make a Difference - "The Vagina Monologues" Show

This is the fifth year the Filipina Women's Network is using Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" to raise awareness to end violence against women and girls. Note that there is now a guy in the poster... for this year debuts a new show; Eve's newer work: "A Memory, A Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer". There is a fight to be won and a voice to be heard...because:

“As the law stands today, a man who kills his wife will receive a lesser sentence than a person who commits murder during a rape or robbery,”

“Why should a domestic violence case be treated as less important under the law? We need to change the law to send batterers away for a long time so that women in abusive relationships feel safe about coming forward.”

This is the message we want to impart on March 26th at the Press Conference at Hotel Monaco on March 26 at 12 noon. Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) will launch a campaign to ask state legislators to close the “special circumstances” loophole responsible for the reduction. We will be joined by no other than Eve Ensler.

Maria Rosa "Bing" Carrion Donates her Books to the San Francisco Library - Mayor Gavin Thanks Bing

Maria Rosa "Bing" Carrion-Buck or tita Bing, as part of her birthday gift to her sister Puchi donated copies of her award-winning coffee table books to the San Francisco Library. Mayor Gavin Newsom was there and recognized the Carrion sisters for their great contributions to the city.

Tita Bing, it was a pleasure and an honor to meet you and your family...Both you and tita Puchi are a great source of inspiration to me.

Happy Birthday to Rosario Puchi Carrion di Ricco - Remarkable Woman, Wife, Mother, Grandma and Leader

When I turn 65, I want to be like Ms. tita Puchi :) ....Her birthday celebration held last Saturday, February 23rd at the Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City was an incredible event! Likely so, because Tita Puchi is an incredible person. It was a very rainy evening but the hall was filled with all her family and closest friends. There was so much love in the room -- hugs and kisses from family and friends, heartfelt speeches, beautiful song renditions and ofcourse, a lot of dancing. And thanks to Tita Bing, her eloquent and adorable sister, who played hostess that evening, the party was a winner!

And I have to say too that the Lake Merced Golf club is gorgeous...and the staff from the catering manager, Patricia to the banquet manager and all the servers that evening did a great job as well.... I surely would recommend this place!

Nimfa Coleman - Ceo, Mission Hope on FWN Cover Magazine

I met tita Nimfa a couple of weeks ago. We chatted a little bit before we did the photo shoot for the Filipina Women's Network magazine and for the short amount of time I talked to her, I saw why she is a special person. She is a soft spoken woman, sweet, calm and very, very nice. But behind her sweet disposition, I also see in her strength and tenacity as a mother, (once) an immigrant, and now a CEO of a very successful home care business. To hear her story from when she first came here to the United States with practically nothing, to how she became one of the most successful Filipina business women here in the US is remarkable and inspiring.

As a Filipina woman, now on my own...she really inspires me to continue to persevere and dream big.

Thanks tita Nimfa for being an inspiration and a role model to me and all the Filipina women out there.

Pre-school Hunting We Go

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Pre-school Faire that was sponsored by the FUN Moms Club The task of choosing what the right school --ok the best school for your little one was quite daunting. As a mother, we'd always like the best for our kids. We want them to be in the best school, to get the best education, to be in the best environment...and as much as I did this for my first son years ago (well, that was a long time ago), there is still that fear: Will his dad and I make the right decision - will we put him in the school that is best for him? And yet, accompanying that 'natural fear" is a mixed sense of anticipation and nostalgia....

I am eager to see Troy go through the next phase of his life and yet, I cannot feel a little melancholy that he is growing up too soon. But I guess, that's just a natural stage for every parent out there....

For moms, dads and everybody in between, a poem I read from one of the literatures I took home:

A child who lives with gentleness
will touch with gentle hands,
A child who is understood

You are the Sunshine of My Life

Finally some sun today. The past few weeks, the continuous gray skies, incessant rain and biting cold has slowly, at first meandered outside my windows and as days went by, crept inside the walls and little by little inside of me...Its a good thing I had my boys this past weekend and they kept me pre-occupied and "anchored". With their laughter, silliness, and playful selves -- they served as my internal sunshine that got me through the horrible, horrible somber gray days. Oh what would I do without them!

So today, I want to celebrate them -- my kids who not only provide me with sunshine and love, but colors ---different colors of life. They make everything so much more...I am treating myself and my walls to some of their warm smiles and colorful, soulful presence....

Off to my lab this goes....

For Paul, Peggy and their 3 wonderful kids with their 3 Siberian Huskies. My very first time to take photos of dogs and I love it! We did not shoot right away as I wanted to get cozy a little bit with the dogs and by the end of the session, I wanted to go home with them....

Welcome - The Cast of TVM 2008 (Preview of Cast Members)

The past two years of performing for V-day and FWN's The Vagina Monologues and Usaping Puki (New York in 06 and San Francisco in 07) was a great and memorable experience! It was not just about being on stage and effectively delivering the monologues during showtime. The curtain call for me was the end of the TVM journey and the beginning of a "newer" me. Each show has always made me a different person. New friendships, new experiences and new reflections always makes every trip to the city for months worthwhile. It was the journey that started with the casting call, then the conosimientos, the domestic violence workshops (yes, one needs to understand what DV is and how to be an advocate for ending the violence at home and helping those who may need it), the acting coaching sessions, the group rehearsals, press conferences and then the show...and in between these important activities was the journal. I wrote my thoughts in the journal given to us at the very beginning. I wrote as many or as little as I wanted - but I wrote my thoughts, my poems and my personal struggles. It felt good to write and weather I have shared the words that resided in those pages or not, I know that I wrote it in the midst of strong, supportive and compassionate women who understands.

Last weekend, I went to the city to do the cover photo shoot for this year's V-Diaries magazine at the Carnelian Room on the 52nd floor of the Bank of America building. With my two kids in tow, I had no intention of hanging around for a long time. But I was curious to see the cast for this year's show and went downstairs to the auditorium to meet everybody. We ended up staying for the entire time! I have to admit, the cast (now including men) was beautiful - full of energy and exuding strength and conviction. The monologues - some old and some brand new all resonate a clear reality and sometimes a message. The afternoon ended with the conosimiento, a sharing of certain information about oneself. It was special to be a part of it, as always...

So goodluck to this year's cast...I know you will all do very well. Get the word out there, start selling those tickets...and stay strong and postive.

Lavina and the girls

Here are some photos of Lavina and her two cute girls. It was late afternoon, the rain was pouring intermittently - it was cloudy, gray and dark. And yet, these two girls did not seem affected by the gloominess of the day. Hmm..that's why I really love to take pictures of kids....they seem to always be in some protected forever summer capsule...I especially love the eyes of these girls, bright, expressive and always full of wonder.

Debut, 18th Birthday - "The Krystal Package "

I've been meaning to show you guys this birthday package I did for Krystal's 18th birthday or for the Filipino community, we call it the "Debut" or the coming out party/welcome into adulthood/rite of passage sort of thing similar to the Quinceaneras or the Sweet 16t birthday party.

Her album was a 10 x 10 hard bound magazine/coffee table style album and I was so delighted to present that to her mom. Likewise, she was also very happy and thrilled to see the finished product...she had no idea it was really a "modern style" album. All their hard work, the beautifully decorated hotel ballroom, the gifts, the towering cake, the gowns, the choreographed dances, the beautiful guests and entourage that accompanied Krystal and her family that special day were captured in that book...and I'm glad that they will enjoy that for the rest of their lives.

Bar Mitzvah at Beth Temple Jacob, Redwood City

Eric's Bar Mitzvah was the first Bar Mitzvah I have ever attended. Although my understanding of the readings and the different parts of the ceremony was limited, the fact that I witnessed one of the most important passages in Eric's life was a great priviledge. The ceremony was very solemn, and the speeches given by his parents were heartfelt, beautiful and memorable.

Eric, I wish you all the best in life. I applaud you for your wholeness of heart and for your genuine concern for the world and the people around you. Congratulations on a wonderful celebration, the food was great and the party was so much fun...

Back in Pismo Beach for Belle

A couple of months ago, I took photos of Isabella when she performed with her dance group in Pismo Beach (http://owenphotographie.blogspot.com/2007/05/test_29.html). This month, I had the priviledge once again, to take her photos and it seems like she has already grown so much in such a small amount of time.

Somebody once asked me, why do I "have" to take so many photos? Well, aside from the fact that that is what I do and love to do, I find that time goes by so much faster with children. They are wiggly little babies one day and gleeful pitter patters, talkative toddlers the next day. As a parent myself, I would love to hold on to their years of growing up and see how they look like in every stage of their childhood....and if a photograph would give me the pleasure of bringing back a visual glimpse of that memory, then so be it.

This is Ava. She is definitely one-of-a-kind. She is as fun and free spirited as her beautiful wild curly hair. We did the photo shoot late in the afternoon and I remembered the day was gloomy and the weather cold. But Ava's radiating smile and sunny disposition just took away all the gloominess of the day and we had a fun time shooting as if it was summertime....well, being with Ava seems like it was summer indeed.

Gallery Canvases On SALE till December 07

I cannot stress enough how beautiful and popular these fine art gallery canvases are. As one of my clients say, it looks so alive, vivid and real that you just want to touch it. I personally love the texture of it and one cannot help but notice it when one enters the room. Jeazelle - Radiating Beauty

As unique as her name, Jeazelle's smile made getting up early on a Sunday morning so worthwhile. Jeazelle has this radiating quiet innocence and intelligent beauty in her and I hope I was able to capture that in her photographs.

I'd like to thank mom for working with me on her outfits and making it fit for our location, dad who also happens to be a photo enthusiast, for assisting during the shoot, grandma, for being there to support Jeazelle and ofcourse to Jeazelle, for making my job the best job in the world :)

Here's an idea of how you can combine several portraits to make a nice photo wall gallery. I currently have the classic black and white frame there but it will look equally or more elegant if these photos are converted into canvas.

The title says it all....Andrew made my day! I arrived at their house with Andrew calmly stitting down in his high chair. I can tell he is ready for his big shoot and outfit changes...Thanks to mommy, some milk and those little round cheerios. As mommy and I narrowed down his clothes, he just sat there watching us all quiet and contented. I knew it was going to be a good shoot...and it was.

I took my kids to one of Troy's friends birthday party. I usually do not bring my big camera for events like this as I really would like to spend quality time with my kids. But now, I have a small snap and shoot stuck in my purse for those just in case snapshots. And when I saw that hug window in the house, I just had to take those "snapshots" and then some.

I think more cuddle time, warm thick blankets, burning wood on the fireplace and warm glasses of milk and cookies. Dan Dykwel's Campaign Kick-Off Party in Palo Alto

Last September 14th, Dan Dykwel kicked-off his campaign with a party first at Mike and Loren Gordon's home and then at Craig and Gina Jorasch's home later for some dessert. I was there ofcourse, bec they wanted me to cover the event and also because I am a dear friend and supporter of Mr. Dykwel. I have seen him in action together with his wife Sunny as producers at the Palo Alto Black and White Ball and knowing them personally, I would say that Dan is the perfect candidate for the job.

The homes were gorgeous, the food great, the wine, fabulous and then there was the outstanding opera performance by Malin Walrod and her husband David Walrod who accompanied her on the piano....Suberb!!! Bravo!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the priviledge of taking Sunny and Dan Dykwel's family portraits for the second time. This time around though, the photos are more for his website as he is finally running for city council this year. Yehey! If you know Sunny and Dan, they were the chairs for the prestigious Palo Alto Black and White Ball and Dan is also, serving as President of the Palo Alto High School Parent Teacher Student Association, you'll know what a tremendous asset he is to the community. If you are a Palo Alto resident, do VOTE for DAN DYKWEL!

For the pictorials, we went to Foothill Park in Palo Alto, the Junior Museum of Palo Alto, then to their house and then all the way to Half Moon Bay where we all had a delectable yummy sushi for lunch and of course, some family beach photos. Thanks Sunny and Dan - that was really nice of you guys! Josh and I had a wonderful time. You guys are the best!

This was my second year as the main photographer for the Filipino American Arts Exposition (FAAE)'s annual PISTAHAN celebration. Pistahan (like fiesta) is a big cultural celebration of Filipino arts and soceity. For me, it is also a celebration of our heritage, tradition, hospitality, ingenuity, commerce, respect for elders and of families and friends coming together and giving each other the gift of warm smiles and sharing.

Prior to Pistahan, my only exposure to my culture is my recent involvement with the Filipina Women's Network when I was the photographer as well as one of the cast members for The Vagina Monologues and Usaping Puki in New York last year and in San Francisco this year to support the cause to end domestic violence. Now that I've done this for the second year in a row, let me tell you why I came back:

- the experience of meeting and talking to kababayans is priceless.
- food, food, food!!!!! Unbelievable native food - its crazy... kiss Jenny Craig goodbye :)
- listening and watching the artists, upcoming performers, talented dancers, musicians and singers! Makes me soooo proud to be there and to be a Filipino.
- One of the things I loved the most is the seniors' ballroom dancing and the food that gets served up there in the pavillion - yum and what a delight to see their bright smiles and bright clothes too :) It makes me so happy and makes me remember my lolas and lolos.
- The Sunday parade --- what fun and I hope that each year, more and more people join and participate...
- The volunteers and the organization itself --- I have never seen such generous outpour of time and effort from this bunch!

Okay, okay, this is not why you came to visit my blog. I haven't forgotten. You want to see the pictures. Well, here they are finally loaded...although I still owe you Sundays's photos and my partner-in-crime's photos (Dennis Mojado of Refracted Moments) who took most of Saturday's performances. I was doing most of the booths that day. Not but not least, I also have to include a team of young photographers who took some images from the parade. I will do my best to get it up there as soon as I can.

Still Out and Down

You know how sometimes, you know what's good for you and yet you still do not do it? Well, I got sick last week ---actually got sick twice...but the point is I knew I should have gone to the doctor right away but instead, I decided to wait it out and guess what? My fatigue, colds and allergies turned to an asthma attack. But I've learned my lesson and today I went to see my doctor today and got my Prednisone. I have the photos from Pistahan to share as well as photos too from a recent fun and all day photoshoot with an amazing family. So I'll be right back - and I hope my meds kick in soon.

Wonder

Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve such wonderful kids. And yet, sometimes I'm very scared because I have no control over what happens to them in the future. But I know I can give them love today.

For me, I enjoy being able to take candid shots. As if I am a silent observer from a distance watching an ordinary moment turn into a special and memorable one. Because utlimately, this is what I would love to see -what my kids would love to see ---just exactly how they were when they were younger and then the bond that exists between siblings. Those captured moments that shows so much special they are....so gratifying.

Here are some photos I took when we were walking at a park one time. Actually, I was looking for this particular tree that I saw this other photographer took and I wanted to visit it for myself...ya - I'm weird that way...but my family was such a sport to tag along with me that day.

Ruth Celebrates her Debut

What a lucky girl! Ruth celebrated her 18th birthday in Newark California last week and the ballroom that fit 300+ guests it seemed like was turned into the Little Mermaid's paradise. It is a girl's dream come true....Everything was so coordinated, and even the evening's program went without a hitch. Ruth's teary gratitude speech and her parents' speech on how they opted to give her a grand 18th birthday celebration in lieu of their 25th anniversary was so beautiful. Nothing like being a witness to a love so big and a family so loving makes my job as a photographer so worthwhile. Happy Birthday Ruth.

A couple of months ago, I was given a rare opportunity to be a part of a worthy cause. It was a small part but nonetheless something I was very proud of especially as a "starting out" photographer. I was asked to take the photos of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Assembly Member Fiona Ma for the ad campaigns that were posted in the trolleys and billboards in the city of San Francisco. It has been so long and I almost forgot about it (how can one forget something like this huh? Well, there is a story behind it :)

As I was on my way to attending Tero Sade's one of the most successful photographers in Australia, business seminar, I saw the trolleys with the anti-hepatitis ads on it. (I did not even know that they ended up picking Fiona wearing the blue sweater). So neat to see the actual ad! Glad I was able to take snapshots of the ad on the muni before they took it down - I think that it SO cool, would'nt you agree?

Behind the Scenes
Look - My make-up artist, me and Ms. Ma - The photoshoot with Ms. Ma was a breeze compared to the shoot with Mayor Gavin...it was relaxed, in her office, and definitely a private session.

You've got 7 minutes! Now, even God did not create the world in 7 minutes! Ok, admittedly, the circumstances when we did the shoot was undesirable. We shot at city hall in a crammed room we shared with a production crew shooting the same day for the Hep B commercial. They were first, then we're next. By the time our shoot came, we had his aids, bodyguards, some folks involve in the campaign (I think they were from Stanford) and so many other people in the room. Man, talk about time pressure and people trying to get snapshots of him. Oh well...let's just say I had some lessons learned from that shoot. And ofcourse, Mr. mayor was so charming, it was a challenge to keep his smile appropriate to the purpose of the shoot....I would have loved to just keep pressing that shutter on and on....but dang those bodyguards...talk about pressure huh!

Oh my! I got this 16 x 20 canvas in the mail and oh my! It is gorgeous...not only is the size so awesome..the canvas just makes the photo pop! It is soooo cool! And you think the 8 x 10 is big ---nah!!! It makes it sooo tiny...The 16 x 20 is definitely the new 8 x 10.... You've gotta have one and you've gotta see one coz you're going to want one...I love it and am so excited!!!!

This year's 4th of July celebration is a little bit quiet since my oldest son, Joshua left for Toronto, Canada last Monday to visit with my grandparents, brother, sister and brother-in-law. This is the first time we will be away from each other for a long period of time and I feel strange....

Krystal's 18th Birthday Party

Krystal's inspiration for her 18th birthday party, or "Debut", the Filipino version of the Quincineras or the Sweet 16 coming of age party was from the movie Aladin. The ladies from her entourage wore Belle-esque long ball gowns and the gentlemen wore sharp pintstripe suits. Krystal also incorporated her favorite color which is orange and it really turned out beautifully. It was such a grand affair that if you were in the hotel, you could have easily mistaken the event as a wedding.

Well, it was definitely a grand welcome to a new chapter in her life...womanhood, adulthood...she goes to a private college this fall after attending Moreau Catholic High School for years. I wish you all the best Krystal and thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your memorable day :)

Owen Photographie - First Customer in the USA for HP Online Hard Drive Back Ups

Last year, I travelled to Pennsylvania with a couple of photographers and met with Skye Hardwick, owner and photographer for Work of Heart Photo. I went home with a lot of really cool photographs from the weekend as we had some great models with us and the weather was awesome. I was really excited to get back on building my portfolio as I lost most of my work when my external hard drive "BROKE" during a backup (strange, weird, long story, but it happened!). But guess what - it got worse... two months later, I woke up turned on my PC and I have a blue screen staring back at me - a hard drive failure for no apparent reason. So can you imagine the nightmare and depression I went through? I did try to get the data recovered and that cost me some money but most of the data I wanted was corrupted. This was all that was left from that shoot....and that's why this photo is sooo memorable to me. Thank goodness at that time, I was not doing any paid shooting yet - whew! But it certainly made me pause, review my workflow and taught me a good lesson on the importance of backing up data.

Early this month, HP introduced its online back up storage service. And guess what? I did not hesitate to pick up the phone. Turns out that I was the first one to call and sign up. They even congratulated me for being the first customer in the United States to sign up for the service...cool! Do I get incentives for that - I ask :) Anyway, I want to share some of their tips on how to back up data including their affordable online backup service should something happen to your PC, external hard drives, or heaven forbid, there is fire, theft in the house, your data is secured and stored elsewhere.

1) GET ORGANIZED FIRST
Get your computer organized first. An organized PC makes backup easier. Music, photos, financial documents and more should be clearly labeled and easily located.

2)BACKUP ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE
How often do you generate new files? Daily? Weekly? Whether at home or in business, your file activity should dictate how often you make backup copies. If it's your business, think daily or weekly. Alternatively, a home machine could be backed up weekly or monthly. Either way, pick a regular interval and stick to it.

3) USE AUTOMATED BACKUP SOFTWARE
It's difficult to remember to copy any new files on a regular basis. Instead, utilize backup software that automatically runs on a schedule.

4)BACKUP ONCE ON HARDWARE
Use one of the devices above to copy your crucial files.

5)BACKUP TWICE OVER THE INTERNET
You've backed up on an external hard drive and it's sitting next to your computer. It's still vulnerable to fire or other natural disasters. If you copy your data a second time, to a backup storage service on the internet, you'll be truly covered. HP Online Backup powered by Spare Backup provides storage for a monthly fee. You can try it for a 45 day trial period for only $6.95, plus a small processing fee. Your service can be set to backup automatically. You can call 1-866-234-1377 to sign up today and mention promotion code 50000-50000.

So now, even though I have DVD copies, external hard drive duplicates and data stored in my hard drive, in the event that any of these devices fail, I know that my photographs and those of my clients are safe and secured in HP's servers....whew!!!! and I can sleep through the night now

Just thought I'd share some more photos from Angel and Christian's wedding. I was already nervous about doing my first wedding shoot and when Suzy (Angel's mom) told me that MTV will be there too and will use my photos...I freaked out!

But its done and I was very happy with it and it was not that scary after all. In fact, I really had a great time and I look forward to doing many more weddings...
And working with MTV was such a treat!

Introducing Textures and Frames

I have just recently discovered adding textures to my photos and although I have no plans to texturize every single one of my exposures, you will surely be seeing more of these effects. They are just fun to use and in some cases, just adds that extra dimension to the work. I love it. Here's an example:

I am admittedly the world's slowest blogger. Well, as you know things are very hectic lately from both a personal and professional standpoint:( But a couple of weeks ago, I had the priviledge of taking Krishna's maternity photos in her beautiful appartment in Pacific Heights in San Francisco. I'd like to share a few of them with you..well, a few because the others are strictly for her eyes and a select few only (if you know what I mean :) They are beautiful indeed and very different from the other nude maternity photos I've seen. But that's because Krishna is special. Her personality is so vibrant and very sophisticated that it just calls for something unique. Bartonico Wedding - What a Blast!

May 19th was a very special day for both the West and the Bartonico family. I'd like to thank them for making me a part of their special day and letting me capture the laughter, the tears, the happiness and just the profound love present throughtout the day. I love weddings and especially if the couple is as special as Angel and Christian.

MTV will be featuring their wedding sometime in June/ July so stay tuned for more info on that. Yours truly may have some cameo role but more importantly, some pictures from the wedding will be featured in the show....how cool is that :)

How nice is it to go for a "babymoon", a last hoorah, a last getaway before their baby arrives in this world? That's just what Amy and Thomas did...Both teachers, they decided to go to Cancun, Mexico for their spring break. I felt so in love justbeing around the couple. Moppet, A Soul Friend

There is nobody else in the world like her. Back in college, we never had the chance to get to know each other. What riot it would have been if we have gotten to know each other back then. We are so similar in so many levels it is crazy. I don't know of anybody else who can understand and empathize with me the way she does. In short, she is as crazy , emotional as me. And for that, I love her like family... I call her my soul friend and we vow to be friends for life.

This early morning, my backyard was filled with energetic teens. Krsytal, who I just did a photoshoot not too long ago for her debut invitations was here with her friends for a group photoshoot earlier today. Good that it did not rain but it was a cold morning. But these guys were troopers --they were so awesome and nobody seemed to mind the cool biting air... They were a cool fun bunch and I had fun taking their pics - even on an early Sunday morning.

Post Processing is a Good Thing

I may have been remissed but I am still here and have been very busy photographing my very best subjects ---people! Although my involvement in the play The Vagina Monologues has put blogging in the backseat, I'm quite happy to say that I am glad to be back.

Check out these two covers for the Filipina Women's Network Magazines. Owen Photographie was given credit for doing all the post processing work for these photos. For the first photo, I was suppose to drive down to Sacramento to do a photoshoot for Justice Tani but for a variety of reasons, the photoshoot did not materialize in time for when we have to go print. The next cover is the Filipina Women's Network Resource Guide and the cover was done by my fellow photographer Voltaire Yap. Oftentimes, post processing is necessary to complete the work. See before and after. See the difference? I'm quite happy with the results.

Vietnamese Lady at the Chinese New Year Parade

I was in the city yesterday attending a workshop for the Vagina Monologues play I am doing on March 24th...the reason I have been so busy lately. On my way home last Saturday, I noticed this young lady talking on the phone about how there is no chance whatsoever that they were going to get on TV because their float just died short of the 'finish line'. Still she was so nice about the whole thing and I cannot help but take my camera out and start clicking away. To me, she was just a very pretty young and poised young lady and I was just drawn to her. Apparently, it was just not me who had the same opinion of her. By the time, I shot my 12th exposure, there were about (no kidding) about 10-15 people wanting to take their photos with her.

Crazy Time But one Post for Krystal

I miss blogging so bad! So many photos to post and to share but where to begin. For those of you who know, I am in a community play that will be showing in San Francisco on March 24th. Aside, from being part of the cast, I am also doing the photo shoots together with two of my friend photographers who so nicely volunteered their services. I will post some of our work later which will also appear in magazines and ads across San Francisco and New York. But for now, I cannot help but post one of the photos I took of Krystal. She will celebrating her 18th birthday in June and we had her photo shoot a couple of evenings ago for her invitation.

What a gem! What a beautiful lady inside and out! This lady is one of the sweetest girls I've ever met. She is so kind, sweet and generous. She is very active in her school and church. She is not your typical teenager galavanting in the malls during her free time. Instead you will see her volunteering in shelters and always helping out the needy.

Krystal, I look forward to your event in June.

Christian & Angel - Engagement

Dennis Mojado, Artistic In Tension

Last night, I was very honored to attend the opening reception of my friend's photography exhibit show at Photocentral in Hayward. Dennis Mojado was one of the 15 artists who participated in this season's exhibit called "Artistic In Tension: The 2007 Portfolio SHow" . The body of work I saw last night was very impressive and I am very proud of my friend and photography buddy. His was the coolest ofcourse...!

The exhibit will run from Feb 2nd to March 5th so please do check out his work and the work of the other artists.

POTD - 15 Jan, Not so Perfect

There are times when things do not happen the way we want it to. When I took this photo, it was almost close to 6:00pm when the gates to the reserve closes, T was with me - there was no way to soak in the place and establish a good composition and the food for the evening is still a mystery. There are so many things that I could have done to make this a better photograph. But this will do for now.

Because sometimes, not so perfect is good enough. Sometimes, it is just those few minutes that I get to be here that makes it enough. I needed some time w/ Him...so nevermind if I did not get a great photo, I got what I needed for the moment...and that's all that matters.

Usually, T and J goes up to my bedroom to wake me up on Sunday mornings. But not today. I woke up earlier than usual to see my SIL and her daughter leave for her volleyball tournament. Too bad we did not get a chance to talk as much as I was out last night when they came to stay for the night. So glad though to see T just playing with his train - can you spot how many Thomas the Trains he has....and that's not all! Oh how he just loves that train! And how we love how T makes Sunday mornings so beautiful.
